Welcoming Chef Alex Gomez

While there is still snow on the ground, the team at Oxford Greens is already looking ahead to opening day. The plan is to welcome everyone back on April 1, weather permitting, and when the doors swing open, there will be a fresh face leading the kitchen.

Chef Alex comes to Oxford Greens after more than two decades at Tunxis Country Club, where he has been part of the culinary team since 2001. During that time, he helped grow the operation in a big way, including expanding weddings from ten per year in 2019 to more than 50 in 2025. Now he is excited to bring that same momentum here and build a dining experience the community can rely on.

Q&A with Chef Alex

Q: What excites you most about being at Oxford Greens?

Chef Alex: The opportunity to take another operation to the level that Tunxis is today. There is so much potential here, and I love building something the community can really be proud of.

Q: What is your philosophy when it comes to club dining?

Chef Alex: Consistency is everything. People should always know what to expect. Great food, reliable hours, and a welcoming experience every time they walk in.

Q: What changes can guests expect to see on the menu?

Chef Alex: We are expanding lighter fare with elevated salads and fresh options, while still keeping the classics people love. You will also see a few entrée style selections and some fun specials.

Q: Any events you are especially excited about?

Chef Alex: Definitely more dining experiences tied to golf, like 9 and Dines. Those are great ways to bring people together.
