Dear Golfers of Oxford Greens,
Starting Tuesday July 5th,
the maintenance team will be addressing some issues of wear throughout select
fairways and tee boxes on the golf course. The fairway areas we will be
addressing are the first two cart entrance points on the 3rd hole, the thin
fairway area on the 3rd hole adjacent to the second entrance point, and the
right hillside on hole #11 just short of the bunker. These areas will be
stripped and new sod will be applied. The areas will be closed until the new
grass is rooted and will be marked as “ground under repair” as defined by the
USGA.
We will also be addressing some
challenged tee boxes before they become unplayable by closing those tee boxes
to allow for core aeration, in which we will fill and top dress with divot mix
and seed. We will use fertilizer throughout the healing process to allow for a
speedy recovery. The tees that will be effected are the right white tees on
hole #9, hole #13 both white and blue
tee boxes, hole # 16 white and blue tee boxes, and hole #15 both white tees.
The tee box closures will result in
some tee boxes playing longer or shorter than the USGA course ratings listed on
the scorecards. Individuals using the USGA handicap system for handicapped
matches are recommended to use the chart found in the USGA Handicap Manual in section 5.2-G. If any players needs assistance in implementing the chart or have any questions please contact a member of the golf professional staff.
